Rose and Rosie: Open, Loud, and Proud â€

Rose Ellen Dix (born 15 June 1988) and Roseanne Elizabeth "Rosie" Spaughton (born 30 May 1990), known as Rose and Rosie, are a married British comedy and entertainment duo who have gained popularity through their YouTube videos.

YouTube career

Dix joined YouTube for a university class, establishing the Rose Ellen Dix channel. She uploaded her first video, entitled "Rose Dix talks Lisa Scinta," on 30 September 2010. An early assignment during Dix's film degree included attempting to make a video go viral. Dix posted a parody of Kesha's Tik Tok on 26 January 2011, and the video received an estimated 16,000 views in five days.

Spaughton uploaded her first video, entitled "YDAHD," to her channel TheRoxetera, on 19 December 2011. Spaughton first appears on the Rose Ellen Dix channel in "Baffle Laffle Taffle Breakup" posted on 18 December 2011. Their first posted collaboration video was uploaded on 15 January 2012 to the Rose Ellen Dix channel.

In 2014, Dix quit her job at an Apple Store to focus on YouTube fulltime. On 29 April 2016, Dix and Spaughton expanded their presence on YouTube by creating a new channel called "Let's Play Games", on which they post gaming videos, which were already present on their main channel, Rose Ellen Dix. However, they decided to make place for more on this channel.

In August 2016, Dix and Spaughton both made the AfterEllen Hot 100 list with Spaughton at number 23 and Dix at 18. They also hit 100 million views on their main channel that month.

Rose Ellen Dix releases more comedy style videos while TheRoxetera focuses primarily on vlogs of the couple's everyday life, as well as Real Talk videos, which discuss topics such as sexuality, and a variety of other subjects.

Youtube Channel - Rose Ellen Dix

The Rose Ellen Dix channel releases a variety of videos including those deemed the typical "couch comedy" to various challenges & tags, how to guides, gaming videos (vintage LPG) and collaborations with other youtubers.

Youtube Channel - TheRoxetera

TheRoxetera tends to include more of their daily vlogs. as well as series' containing a more specific theme. The series' include the couple annual VLOGMAS videos, along with others titled #RealTalk and the BISEXY SERIES. The content of TheRoxetera is slightly different that what is released on the Rose Ellen Dix channel.

Let's Play Games

Let's Play Games is Rose and Rosie's third channel devoted to playing video games. On this channel, the couple upload videos of themselves playing a variety of different video games, which include gameplay commentary. Some of the video games featured in their videos include "Until Dawn", "GTA 5", "FIFA" and "The Sims 4".

Vlogmas

Vlogmas refers to the challenge/tradition where youtubers vlog every day in December during the time that leads up to Christmas. Rose and Rosie participate in Vlogmas every year, posting daily vlogs of the festivities leading up to their Christmas celebration.

#RealTalk

In #RealTalk, Rose and Rosie attempt to discuss real-life conflicts/situations and use their personal experiences to share advice with viewers. Some of the pair's #RealTalk videos include videos titled "How to Have a Good Relationship", "Living with OCD" and "Controlling Your Jealousy".

BISEXY SERIES

The BISEXY SERIES focuses on Rosie Spaughton's experience with being a bisexual woman. In these videos, Rosie, along with her partner, discuss various challenges and obstacles bisexual individuals often face in this society. Rosie uses her own experiences to share insight and advice on what it means to live as a bisexual woman. Some of the videos in this series include "How Do You Know You're Bisexual" and "Dealing With Biphobia & Homophobia".

SUPERKISS Challenge

Some of Rose and Rosie's most popular youtube videos include "SUPERKISS!", "SUPERKISS PART 2" and "SUPERKISS PART 3". Superkiss is essentially a challenge to see how long two people can kiss without 'breaking'. "SUPERKISS PART 2" is Rose and Rosie's most popular youtube video, with 5.7 million views in total.

Maltese Van de Kamp

Maltese is an alter-ego created by Rose Dix and has appeared in a number of their couple's videos. Maltese can be characterized a snobbish person with a bad accent, and deems herself to be "Canadian/Rhode Island royalty". Maltese has appeared in videos including "THIS IS JUST RIDICULOUS", "SUPERKISS PART 3" and "Acting 101 with Maltese Van de Kamp".

Collaborations

Rose and Rosie often collaborate with other Youtubers in their videos. Some past collaborations include videos with youtubers Shannon Beveridge, Cammie Scott, Amy Ordman, Oli White and Hannah Witton.

Additional interests

Camila Cabello

The couple are very vocal when it comes to expressing their love for former Fifth Harmony group-member Camila Cabello. Camila is the pair's ultimate celebrity crush, who they often fan-girl over in their videos. In October 2017, Rose and Rosie had the opportunity to interview Camila Cabello at the BBC Radio 1's Teen Awards.

Interaction with fans

Dix and Spaughton refer to their fans as "Boobies." They first held an organized meet and greet in London in 2013. In 2014, they coordinated a meet and greet with fellow YouTuber couples Whitney and Megan, and Kaelyn and Lucy. The meet and greet was known as "ROSWEGLYN" and had an estimated 600 attendees. In April 2017, Dix and Spaughton toured the United Kingdom and Ireland, and in September 2017 continued their tour, titled "Rose & Rosie: Exposed" in North America.

Other activities

In November 2014, the couple hosted the Holiday Window Unveiling in Macy's, Pittsburgh. They have since appeared on BBC Radio 1's series "The Internet Takeover".

In May 2016, Rose and Rosie featured in episode 2 of Russel Kane's Stupid Man, Smart Phone on BBC Three. The episode saw them try to survive in Arctic Norway and was filmed in November 2015.

In June 2016, Dix and Spaughton were selected by Sony Pictures as two of 15 influencers in social media to promote Sony's then upcoming movies Inferno and Ghostbusters during a public relations blitz in Singapore. The pair participated in a scavenger hunt, and met Tom Hanks and Ron Howard as well as interviewed Melissa McCarthy and Paul Feig. Vlogs of their scavenger hunt and interviews were later posted on Rose Ellen Dix.

Relationship

Dix and Spaughton first met in 2007 when Dix went (uninvited) to Spaughton's Halloween party, when they were 19 and 17 respectively, though when they met they were both in relationships at the time. Once both single, they went on their first date on 20 October 2011, and made their relationship official on 19 July 2012. Dix proposed to Spaughton on 30 May 2014, and the wedding took place in England at Clearwell Castle on 20 March 2015. They have spoken many times on their channel about their wish to start a family.

Spaughton identifies as bisexual, whereas Dix identifies as a lesbian.

Family Life

The pair currently reside in England with their two pets; a dog named Wilma and a cat named Flynn. They two have also expressed their desire to have a baby sometime in the future.
